EN 471:2003 European Standards

E471 European Standards

EN471 is the European standard for high visibility clothing, dealing with the specifications and effectiveness of hi vis.

There are 3 protection levels in hi vis:
  • Class 1Class 1 is the lowest level of high visibility clothing. An example of this would be high visibility trousers with 2 5cm bands around each leg, but these become class 3 when they are worn with a high visibility jacket.
  • Class 2Class 2 describes an high visibility vest with 2 5cm bands around the body and a brace around each shoulder. Class 2 is the most common requirement for workplaces.
  • Class 3Class 3 describes the highest level of high visibility clothing. Either a combination of jacket and trousers or a high visibility suit. Class 3 should be worn in all high risk workplaces that have limited visibility including within 1.2 meters of Highway traffic.
  • Hi vis clothing is extremely important in a wide range of jobs and also in every day use. Hi vis jackets should be worn around warehouses and high traffic area's to help reduce work accidents. Hi vis clothing is also recommended whilst cycling along with a wide range of other every day activities.

All of our hi vis clothing conforms to the highest standards and our orange garments conform to EN471 GO/RT3279.
